This is an academic debate from January, 2012 concerning the Palestinian state’s September bid for recognition by the United Nations.  The points are being argued by distinguished members of Israeli, American, and Palestinian diplomatic and political circles including Mustafa Barghouthi and Daniel Levy in favor of admission. They are a former Palestinian Authority presidential candidate and a former negotiator for the Israeli government respectively.  Debating against Palestinian admission are Dore Gold, the former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations and an advisor to the curent Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu as well as Aaron David Miller, a former U.S. Mideast negotiator.
